Canterbury

Installed as part of a full residence renovation, this project uses clean lines and a symphony of textures to connect the simple aesthetic of the architecture to the dense wooded site around it.

The design preserves the unique character of the existing property while enhancing its natural beauty. The lower pool terrace and aggregate stone stepper path leading to it are situated in order to embrace several large existing trees. Lines of bright groundcover soften the edges of the pool terrace while rugged specimen boulders and flowering trees add focal points and spots of color. Strips of moss and stone chips provide natural drainage while adding visual interest.

Set apart from the house and pool terrace, a custom wood-burning fire pit with gas assist provides a perfect gathering space immersed in the beauty of the surrounding trees.

Bordering the property is a screen of 20’ evergreens that enclose the space and provide privacy.
